La Galera is a premium cigar brand born from the heart of the Dominican Republic’s cigar tradition. It is the personal creation of José “Jochy” Blanco, a fourth-generation tobacco grower and master blender, whose family has cultivated tobacco in the Cibao Valley for over 85 years.
The name “La Galera” refers to the rolling room of a cigar factory — the sacred space where skilled torcedores (rollers) give life to the leaf. With this name, Jochy honors the most important part of cigar production: the hands and passion of the people who craft each cigar.
La Galera cigars are proudly made at Tabacalera Palma, one of the oldest and most respected factories in the Dominican Republic. Each cigar in the La Galera portfolio reflects a dedication to quality, tradition, and the art of Dominican cigar-making, using tobacco grown on the Blanco family’s estates.
