The Quesada family entered the tobacco business in Cuba in the late 1800s, not by design, but by destiny. A family debt was paid with tobacco instead of money, and what began as an improvised exchange became the foundation of a tobacco legacy.
Over the decades, the Quesadas became respected leaf brokers, building deep expertise in selecting and trading the finest tobaccos across Cuba and beyond.
After the Cuban Revolution, the family relocated to the Dominican Republic, where Manuel “Manolo” Quesada, a fifth-generation member, transformed the business from tobacco brokerage into cigar manufacturing. In 1974, Quesada Cigars established its own factory and released its first brand, marking the beginning of its rise as one of the Dominican Republic’s most trusted cigar makers.
Today, Quesada Cigars remains a family-operated company, blending tradition with innovation, and producing award-winning cigars that honor its heritage while embracing the future.
Created in partnership with Plasencia, Casa Magna was Quesada’s bold declaration to the world. It combined strength, flavor, and craftsmanship — and became an instant classic. The Casa Magna Colorado Robusto was named Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado in 2008, making it one of the most prestigious Dominican cigars in modern history.
This line captures richness, complexity, and full-bodied satisfaction — now expanded into multiple sub-lines to suit various palates.
